Soon after its formation, during the 1980s AETC helped to develop and establish industrial standards for the handling, packaging and transportation for hazardous waste. These standards put into practice the new federal waste laws, including RCRA and TSCA.

In 1987 Landmesser bought his partner’s interest and continued to grow AETC on a national scale to 22 offices across the U.S., servicing on a regular basis over 200 of the Fortune 500 companies.  By 1994, the company had grown to $77 million in annual revenue.
